Watters was assigned to 3rd Battalion, 6th Marines, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.
Spc. Christopher D. McCarthy, of Virginia Beach, Virginia, died June 1, 2008 at Forward Operating Base Ramadi, Iraq. McCarthy was assigned to the U.S. Joint Forces Command, Joint Reserve Unit, Norfolk, Virginia.
Cpl. Jonathan T. Yale, 21, of Burkeville, Virginia, died April 22, 2008, from wounds suffered while conducting combat operations in Al Anbar province, Iraq. Yale was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.
Sgt. Jesse A. Ault, 28, of Dublin, Virginia, died April 9, 2008, in Baghdad, Iraq, from wounds suffered in Tunnis, Iraq, when his vehicle encountered an improvised explosive device. Ault was assigned to the 429th Brigade Support Battalion, Virginia Army National Guard, Roanoke, Virginia.
Staff Sgt. Jeremiah E. McNeal, 23, of Norfolk, Virginia, died April 6, 2008, in Baghdad, Iraq, of wounds suffered when his vehicle encountered an improvised explosive device. McNeal was assigned to the 237th Engineer Company, 276th Engineer Battalion, 91st Troop Command, Virginia Army National Guard, West Point, Virginia.
Sgt. Jevon K. Jordan, 32, of Norfolk, Virginia, died March 29, 2008, at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center, Landstuhl, Germany, from wounds suffered March 23 in Abu Jassim, Iraq, when his vehicle encountered an improvised explosive. Jordan was assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 7th Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division, Fort Stewart, Georgia.
Tech. Sgt. William H. Jefferson, Jr., 34, of Norfolk, Virginia, died March 22, 2008, near Sperwan Ghar, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when his vehicle encountered an improvised explosive device. Jefferson was assigned to the 21st Special Tactics Squadron, Pope Air Force Base, North Carolina.

Simpson, 23, of Hampton, Virginia, died March 17, 2008, in Baghdad, Iraq, from wounds suffered when his vehicle encountered an improvised explosive device during combat operations. Simpson was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 68th Armor Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, Fort Carson, Colorado.
Staff Sgt. Chad A. Barrett, 35, of Saltville, Virginia, died February 2, 2008, in Mosul, Iraq, as a result of a non-combat related incident. Barrett was assigned to the 64th Brigade Support Battalion, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, Fort Carson, Colorado.
Sgt. Tracy R. Birkman, 41, of New Castle, Virginia, died January 25, 2008, in Owesat, Iraq, from non-combat related injuries. Birkman was was assigned to the 626th Brigade Support Battalion, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), Fort Campbell, Kentucky.
Pfc. David H. Sharrett II, 27, of Oakton, Virginia, died January 16, 2008, in Pallouata, Iraq, of wounds suffered in Balad, Iraq, when he was attacked by grenade and small arms fire during combat operations. Sharrett was assigned to the 1st Squadron, 32nd Cavalry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), Fort Campbell, Kentucky.
Sgt. Mason L. Lewis, 26, of Gloucester, Virginia, died in Baghdad on November 16, 2007, as a result of a non-combat related training accident. Lewis was assigned to the 26th Brigade Support Battalion, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division, Fort Stewart, Georgia.

Banks was assigned to the 237th Engineer Company, 276th Engineer Battalion, 91st Troop Command, Virginia National Guard, West Point, Virginia.
